Does Insurance Cover Acupuncture?

Coverage of Acupuncture treatment will vary from company to company, state to state, and will also vary based on your plan.  The best way to find out is to call your provider and ask if Acupuncture is covered.

1. Will my plan cover acupuncture?
2. How many visits and I allotted per calender year?
3. Do I have a co-pay?  if so, how much is the copay?
4. Do I have a deductible?  If so, has it been met for the year?
5. Do I need a referral from a primary care physician or other specialist?

I have an HSA (Health Saving Account) instead of traditional insurance.  Will my costs be covered?

One of the great benefits of a health saving account is the ability to choose the type of treatment you prefer.  As such, acupuncture, as well as herbal alternatives are applicable to be paid for using HSA funds as long as the treatments are being provided to treat a specific medical condition.
